Photocells: A Must Have For Streetlights

With the swift increase in LED lighting technologies, we can now see LED Lights replacing conventional lighting in a wide range of sectors, including garden & decorative lighting, street lighting and automotive lighting.

The introduction of affordable LED lighting called for the adoption of LED Streetlights by municipalities. The streetlight market has seen a substantial transformation, in terms of automation, energy-efficiency and total costs (yes, the need for automation in every industry applies just as much to this one, due to the speed and efficiency of these systems).

LED Streetlights: The Smart Choice

LED Lighting has been proven to be a resourceful alternative to typical artificial light sources such as the HID Lamps: the benefits provided by LED Streelights surpasses their counterparts in the market at the moment.

  • Energy Efficiency: LED lights are widely known for how energy efficient they are. However, governments are using this factor to their advantage, by providing quality lighting at lower costs. Furthermore, LED lights have a longer lifespan and barely have any maintenance costs, adding to the benefits of using LED lights.
  • Elevated Light Levels: LED lights provide precision color rendering and light distribution. In addition to that, they are non-flickering and can be dimmed to desired levels.
  • Automation: LED street lights have been combined with other technologies to bring about higher levels of control and develop efficient automated systems. These "Smart Systems" further aid the reduction of overall costs incurred by governments while planning the infrastructure.

In this blog, we'd like to introduce to you our new street lights with photocell sensors.

Photocell sensors are used as an automated switch which work based on the exposure levels of light - they turn on automatically when surrounding light levels low (night time) are and turn off automatically when surrounding light levels are high (day time).

V-TAC's new streetlights with photocells are not only automated, but they also have a lifespan of about 30,000 hours which amounts to low maintenance costs and less manpower required.

Furthermore, this model allows for adjustment of lux levels (the amount of luminescence over a certain area), catering for desired light levels in different areas.

"More light, less energy": At V-TAC, we strive towards the manufacture of affordable LED Lighting Technologies while also considering the need for energy-efficiency.
